Osun State Government Collaborates with Distribution Companies (DisCos) to Enhance Rural Electrification Access

sun State, under the visionary leadership of Governor Sen. Ademola Adeleke, is making significant strides in improving access to electricity, particularly in rural areas. This commitment was reiterated by the State Commissioner for Energy, Hon. Festus Ademola Adeyemo, at the recent State Government and Distribution Companies (DisCos) Roundtable event in Abuja. The event, themed "Fostering Collaboration and Partnership to Enhance Rural Electrification Access in Nigeria," brought together key stakeholders, including the 36 states commissioners for energy, chaired by the Hon. Minister for Power, Adebayo Adelabu.

The primary focus of the event was to discuss strategies and implementation plans for rural electrification, in line with the Rural Electrification Agency's (REA) mandate and the Electricity Act of 2023. Delegates deliberated on transforming energy finance, bridging gaps, and creating opportunities for improved electricity access across the country.

Hon. Festus Ademola Adeyemo highlighted Osun State's readiness to collaborate with the REA and other stakeholders to ensure that rural communities benefit from these initiatives. He emphasized the state government's commitment to providing electricity to every community, one step at a time.

The Osun State delegation, led by the Hon. Commissioner for Energy includes Permanent Secretary of Energy, Engr. Sola Ajao, and the Director of the Ministry of Energy, Engr. Johnson Abatan, actively participated in the discussions. Their presence underscored Osun State's determination to prioritize rural electrification and improve the lives of its citizens, especially those in rural areas.

The collaboration between the Osun State Government and DisCos is a significant step towards achieving sustainable electricity access in rural areas.
