The Osun State House of Assembly has dissociated itself from statements linking the legislature to a purported increase in the salaries of all political office holders in the state.
The story is about mischievous and dishonest attempts by the APC group called The Mastermind to misinform the public about the true position of the parliament on salaries of public office holders in the state.
It is pertinent I say that the Osun State Public/Political Office Holder's Revised Remuneration (Amendment II) Bill, 2024, was not amended for all the political office holders.
At the floor of the House when the Honourable members were discussing the bill, some of them emphasized that the proposed improvement in remuneration as contained in the Bill did not in any way affect the current salaries and emoluments of the Honourable Members, Civil Servants, and members of the Executive cabinets of the State.
Salaries of these categories of public officers are determined by appropriate Federal Government Agencies.
The categories of Public Officers targeted in the Bill are Part Time Chairmen of Boards and Rent Tribunals and Part Time Board Members in the State.
The Osun Masterminds are urged to learn how to be diligent in opposition. The bill is a public document available on request for inquiries and clarifications of doubts on grey areas.

Olamide Tiamiyu,
Chief Press Secretary to the Honourable Speaker, OSHA.
