LG ALLOCATIONS: STOP PERSECUTiNG OSUN GOVT AND PEOPLE, GROUP CHIDES JUSTICE MINISTER

A socio-political group, Osun Democrats for Democracy(ODD) has launched scathing attacks on the Attorney General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi for orchestrating, promoting and enforcing non-existing court judgement to create leadership anarchy and vacuum in the Osun local government system.

The group lambasted the Justice Minister for deliberately aiding and abetting open misinterpretation of Akure Court of Appeal judgement which did not in any way reinstate the council chairmen whose sack sub

sists because no court of law has vacated the earlier order removing them from office.

The minister in pursuance of vendetta over the loss of his client , Gboyega Oyetola at the Supreme Court in 2023 is deliberately and illegally using powers of his office to serve partisan interest by supporting gangster occupation of local government secretariats by a group sacked by a subsisting court order.

Even when the sacked chairmen turned round to appeal the judgement that sacked them from office, the Justice Minister railroaded both the Minister of Finance and the.Central Bank Governor to withheld Osun local government allocations.

At a point, the Justice Minister working with Osun APC almost engineered and effected the  payment of  Osun local government allocations to court sacked council chairmen who forced their ways into the various local government secretariats in Osun state.

The illegal transfer of funds under dubious circumstances was only stopped when the apex bank asked for a valid court order reinstating the.sacked chairmen, a request they could not produce.

Yet, the Justice Minister sent his illegal legal advice to the apex bank to back up his insistent push to get the allocations to the sacked chairmen until the state government approached the Supreme Court to challenge the legality of the withholding of Osun local government allocations.

Why is the Justice Minister violating his oath of office by acting like a political party lawyer to misinterpret a clear and unambiguous Akure Court of Appeal judgement to punish Osun people? What sin has the Adeleke led administration in Osun committed other than it defeated Mr Fagbemi's client in a free and fair contest?

We challenge the Attorney General to drop his partisan garb and forget his loss and that of his client at the Supreme Court during the litigation on Osun 2022 governorship elections.

We dare the Justice Minister to act like a true Chief Legal Officer of the Federation by accepting what top legal minds have accepted that the Akure Appeal Court did not in any direction reinstate the sacked council chairmen.

We confront the Justice Minister to accept that his legal advice in support of reinstatement of the court sacked chairmen was a grievous error which should be withdrawn forthwith.

We submit that it is time for the Justice Minister to remember that power is transient and that his unjust persecution of the Osun people and government is a black spot in his long legal career .

Finally, we are convinced that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu did not authorize the persecution of Osun workers and people by the Justice Minister and we therefore call on Mr President to stop this illegal, unconstitutional and unfair abuse of power by the Attorney General.

Signed:

Chief Dare Omole,

Chairman of the Management Council.
