As Muslims worldwide usher in the new Islamic year, Hijra 1447, the Senate Deputy Minority Leader and Mayegun Adinni of Irewole/Isokan/Ayedaade Federal Constituency, Senator Lere Kamorudeen Oyewumi, has extended his warm felicitations and best wishes to the Muslim faithful across Osun West, Nigeria, and beyond.
Senator Oyewumi emphasized the significance of the Hijra, marking the migration of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) from Mecca to Medina, an event that laid the foundation for the Islamic calendar. He highlighted the occasion as a time for reflection, spiritual renewal, and a reaffirmation of faith, peace, and unity.
"I wish all Muslim brothers and sisters a happy and prosperous New Year as we mark Hijra 1447. This significant event in Islamic history serves as a profound reminder of sacrifice, perseverance, and the importance of seeking knowledge and truth. It is a period for us to collectively reflect on our actions, strengthen our faith, and renew our commitment to living in peace and harmony with one another," the lawmaker stated.
Senator Oyewumi urged Muslims to embrace the core values of Islam, which include compassion, generosity, justice, and tolerance, noting that these principles are essential for national development and peaceful coexistence. He called on all Nigerians, irrespective of their religious affiliations, to continue to pray for the peace, unity, and progress of the nation, especially during these challenging times.
He further prayed for continued divine guidance, protection, and blessings for all Muslims in the new year, expressing optimism that the year 1447 AH would bring renewed hope, prosperity, and spiritual growth to all.
